My bulk import failed, was interrupted, or I need to undo it — what now?
Large imports run in the background and can be retried, resumed, reset, or fully undone from the import's results page — nothing is lost if your connection drops or a run is interrupted.
On this page
LetTrack imports (CSV, or from Alto/Reapit) run in chunks in the background, so you can safely close the tab once a run starts — you'll see live progress when you come back to Settings → Data import.
If it's still running
Open the import from the Data import list. While it's processing you'll see a live row count ("x / y rows") that updates every few seconds — no action needed, just wait or check back later.
If it was interrupted
An import that stops sending progress updates (for example, the tab was closed mid-run for longer than the background worker's heartbeat) shows as interrupted on its results page. You get two options:
- Resume — carries on from exactly where it left off, using the same row-by-row ledger, so already-imported rows are never re-processed.
- Reset — discards progress on this run and re-queues it to start over from row one. Only available while the original uploaded file still exists (a completed import's raw file is deleted).
If some rows failed
A completed import shows Imported / Skipped / Failed counts. For any failed rows you can:
- Retry failed rows — re-attempts only the rows that failed, leaving already-imported and skipped rows untouched.
- Download failed rows — exports just the failing rows (with the reason) as a CSV, so you can fix the data and start a fresh import with the corrected file.
Post-import compliance check
For a portfolio import (properties + tenancies, not a contacts-only import), the results page shows an instant compliance readiness panel for the properties it just created — expired gas certificates, EICRs, EPCs, missing EPCs, unprotected deposits, and anything below MEES band E — each linking straight into your compliance workspace to fix it.
Undoing an import
Once an import has finished (complete, completed-with-errors, or failed), you can undo it from the results page. This permanently deletes only the properties, tenancies and contacts that specific import created — anything it merged into an existing record, or any record you've since attached documents or activity to, is left alone. You'll be asked to confirm before anything is deleted, and it can't be reversed once you do.
Who can do this
Only an org admin (landlord owner/admin or agency admin/super-admin) can run, retry, resume, reset, or undo an import.
